UniSey launches alumni association
The University of Seychelles (UniSey) has launched its Alumni Association, a platform where topics of academic interests can be discussed among members.
In a ceremony at The Guy Morel Institute, Ma Joie, last Friday, the vice-chancellor of the UniSey, Professor Dennis Hardy, told all present that crossing the stage of graduation should not mark the end of one’s association with the university and creating an association will ensure that this is not the case.
The association will not only help maintain the relationship between graduates and the university but also create a network between graduates so they can keep in touch with one another.
“This professional network will be an influential proof in the life of the nation. Thanks to your successes we’re each year building a stronger reputation.
We want you to be proud of your successes just as we are proud of you. You are now role models for our present students to look up to. And I hope that with the help of the alumni association there will be opportunities for you to inspire them with your own stories,” said Professor Hardy, adding that everybody has a story to tell, for example why you decided to take on or embark on a particular course.
The professor said the central mission of the university is to help through high education in turning Seychelles into a knowledge economy.
He also told the graduates that in their careers they would be playing their own part in that transition.
